[SOLVED] Problem With Bluetooth in Fedora 10

I have read many post about errors while sending from mobile device to our laptops. I have solved the problem with this procedure:

Verify your bt-adapter class:

[root@Netadmin ~]# hciconfig hci0 class
hci0:   Type: USB                        
        BD Address: 00:1B:FC:EF:FD:E8 ACL MTU: 384:8 SCO MTU: 64:8
        Class: 0x4a210c                                           
        Service Classes: Networking, Capturing, Telephony         
        Device Class: Computer, Lapto

As you can see, in services classes we have only "Networking, Capturing, Telephony". We need also "Object Transfer" so we must enable it.

To enable this service we must search for the relative bit in the bluetooth document available to www.bluetooth.org, you can find it in google cache here

First of all i have converted the class from hex to bin, and then after i have changed the bit that i need to modify, i have converted it to hex once again. (you can use a scientific calculator)

To enable this service we must use admin privileges to change the bt class, the command is:

[root@Netadmin ~]# hciconfig hci0 class 0x5a210c
hci0:   Type: USB
        BD Address: 00:1B:FC:EF:FD:E8 ACL MTU: 384:8 SCO MTU: 64:8
        Class: 0x5a210c
        Service Classes: Networking, Capturing, Object Transfer, Telephony
        Device Class: Computer, Laptop

After changing the class you need to restart bluetoothd. To receive files just launch obex-data-server and obex_push from command line, then go on your phone and send all your photos to your laptop.

Thanks, it worked for me. Transferred pictures from phone to Fedora 10.

This sounds promising, but I lose the Object Transfer service class on restarting bluetoothd. Did you run into that, or have any suggestions on how to avoid it?
