Compiling 32-bit X applications in Fedora 10

I am trying to compile the current Wine Development Version, 1.1.11. on Fedora 10, which requires all of the X development libraries in 32-bit, e.g. libxcursor, libxi, XShm, etc.

(reason is that the supplied Wine does not successfully run certain applications)

Thus, I soon realized that I need the package xorg-x11-server-devel.i386 .

However, there is a conflict in one of the X include files:

# yum install xorg-x11-server-devel.i386
...
Transaction Check Error:
file /usr/include/xorg/xorg-server.h from install of xorg-x11-server-devel-1.5.3-6.fc10.i386 conflicts with file from package xorg-x11-server-devel-1.5.3-6.fc10.x86_64

I traced the conflict to a simple #define 64-bit for X.

Will this issue be fixed in later updates? Should I force the installation of the file?

Hello:

I would not force the installation, as it may cause other problems.

One of the easiest ways to compile wine or other exclusive i386 software is to install 32bit Fedora in Virtual Box or VMware-Sever etc. and compile it there.

If you like I can provide you with the Wine-1.1.12 rpms.

Let me know and I can put them up somewhere for you to download.
  • wine-1.1.12-2.fc10.i386.rpm
  • wine-capi-1.1.12-2.fc10.i386.rpm
  • wine-cms-1.1.12-2.fc10.i386.rpm
  • wine-core-1.1.12-2.fc10.i386.rpm
  • wine-desktop-1.1.12-2.fc10.i386.rpm
  • wine-devel-1.1.12-2.fc10.i386.rpm
  • wine-esd-1.1.12-2.fc10.i386.rpm
  • wine-jack-1.1.12-2.fc10.i386.rpm
  • wine-ldap-1.1.12-2.fc10.i386.rpm
  • wine-nas-1.1.12-2.fc10.i386.rpm
  • wine-tools-1.1.12-2.fc10.i386.rpm
  • wine-twain-1.1.12-2.fc10.i386.rpm

Hello:
I don't know, sorry.

You could contact the maintainer or file a request with bugzilla.
