Try watching it with VLC. VLC plays everything![]()
one strange thing i also notice from this dvd, is that browsing it in nautilus it shows that there's 153 items in the VIDEO_TS folder, and the items total 72.9GB! obviously not correct. the dvd is new and undamaged, is it possible that there's some other kind of "read" protection that doesn't allow computers to read this dvd?
VLC, Mplayer, Xine, all couldn't play the dvd.
it looks like it can't find a map file nor the css keys.
here's a quick look of the error i get:

LinDVD blows right throught that nasty Sony DRM c**p. Leigh compiled rpm packages of it for F7 8 and 9, both x86 and x86_64 as well as a SRPM package to build your own with. Doesn't look like he's gotten around to putting up one for F10 (I can't find them if he has), but F9 packages might work in F10. Look here for the downloads.
I mostly use VLC for viewing DVD movies, but when VLC chokes up, I break out LinDVD. Hasn't failed me yet.
I have a similar problem. I run f10 on an x86_64 with *all* libdvdcss packages installed (read, nav, ecc.)
but VLC, Kaffein, MPlayer etc. refuse to play any kind of encripted dvds (Noticeably, *original* encrypted dvds, not cracked copys).
I installed both the 64 bit and the 32 bit version of libdvdcss, but nothing.
Unencrypted are played fine, the resto no.
Does anyone have the same problem?
Thank you all
Same here.
I am using Fedora 11
Hunkah
Is that fedora 11 32 bit OR Fedora 11 64 bit
did you install libdvdcss from livna ?
did you install libdvdnav, libdvdread from rpmfusion?
did you fallow one of the how two's from
http://www.dnmouse.org/
( i would use his "autoten/eleven)
or mjm's
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-f11.html
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...l#mediaplayers
You do need to let us know WHAT YOU HAVE already done and what is not working
just saying " i have the same problem" on a 8 month old thread for a different version of fedora is of no real help to us .We will not be able to help, except for what i have posted.

Hey! I wasn't even expecting anyone to answer, I usually read and try then post my findings, but never get a response!
OK, I will try what you said... and let you know what happens.
OK, I went to http://www.dnmouse.org/ and followed the install for fedora 11, and I can now play DVDs. I am still having issues with something though, because after a while into the movie, my computer locked up. (it was too busy, to be responsive... it wasn't frozen).
I had read online that I had to install libdvd* and I did I am running a PIII 700 with about 3/4 GB of RAM. That is part of why the lockup. I installed everything I thought I needed according to what the online forums said... but dnmouse did the extra (whatever it was I was missing).
I am mostly testing this out because I want to permanately switch over to Linux from Windows. I just wish there was a Yahoo! IM Client for Linux... I would make the switch without looking back!
Thanks for your help.

Yeah, I got it about the time Windows 98 was popular. So basically 10 years ago. It was my first real box... one that wasn't second hand. I paid about $3000 for it! I got a 17" monitor (which was HUGE back then) and a fancy $350 canon bubblejet printer... oh yeah, I was cool!
I have a few more laying around that are faster, but I am using them as fileservers and backups... I might switch this one out for one of them, but my goal is to get rid of Windows completely. For everyday use, I have a WinXP on a Dell laptop. It is starting to slow down, and now my sound driver doesn't play files without skipping... so instead of doing the re-image of my HDD, I want to just cut the cord, and do without windows.
That is why I keep testing Linux, I am waiting for that day. I will just miss my HUGE dependence on Yahoo IM, which I love. I know about all the other IM clones, but I like yahoo's client far better. It has all my contacts, emails, calendar events, tasks... and no matter what other IM's or PIMs I try, Yahoo continues to be my favorite.
I have written them to tell them so, and I always get the stock answers back. "Thank-you for your loyalty, but we don't want to spare the resources to make you happy."
Yahoo could do so well in Linux, because MS won't go there, and Google seems to be focused on everything but their IM.
Thank-you for your help. It is people like you that will make the adoption of Linux all that much more smooth.
