Fail to connect nokia 5310 phone via usb to Fedora 10 after upgrading from fedora 9

Hello i have problems connecting my cellphone (nokia 5310) to fedora 10 fresh install. Back in Fedora 9 days it worked perfectly, it was autodetected and automounted and i could transfer files to it.
The device works perfectly in Windows but in Fedora 10 it can't be manually mounted. I reinstalled Fedora 9 to a different partition after upgrading to fedora 10 and the device worked but still i can't get it to work in the newer linux. I've googled and found this and this but none of them worked.
this is what i get when i type "dmesg" in the terminal after connecting the phone in "mass storage mode":

Code:

The device works perfectly in Windows but in Fedora 10 it can't be manually mounted.
What kind of error (message) do you get when you try to manually mount?

Is hald running in Fedora 10?

Well hald is running i typed "hald" in the terminal and no errors ocurred, when i type "mount -t vfat /dev/sdb /media/phone/" i get this:

Code:
mount: el dispositivo especial /dev/sdb no existe (the special device /dev/sdb does not exist)
When i type "lsusb" in the terminal i get:

Code:
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 004 Device 007: ID 0421:006b Nokia Mobile Phones
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
So it seems to be detected, but if i type "fdisk -l" i get:

Code:
Disposit. Inicio Comienzo Fin Bloques Id Sistema
/dev/sda1 * 1 3916 31455238+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/sda2 3918 10011 48950055 f W95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/sda5 3918 5222 10482381 83 Linux
/dev/sda6 5223 5418 1574338+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda7 5419 7846 19502878+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda8 7847 10011 17390331 7 HPFS/NTFS
As you can see only my hard drive's partitions are listed, none from the usb device "sdb".
Also i forgot to mention i use KDE 4.1.3, and nothing happens when i plug the device, it's not beeing recogniced by the plasmoid.
Also when i plug the phone after a few seconds it goes in transfer mode, as if i were trasnferring music to it.

I found a spanish guide about howto use sg3_utils, but when i type "sg_scan -i" only detects my hard drive and my dvd burner, and it gets stucked in /dev/sg2:

Code:
/dev/sg0: scsi0 channel=0 id=0 lun=0 [em]
    ATA HDS728080PLAT20 PF2O [rmb=0 cmdq=0 pqual=0 pdev=0x0]
/dev/sg1: scsi1 channel=0 id=0 lun=0 [em]
    TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S202J SB01 [rmb=1 cmdq=0 pqual=0 pdev=0x5]
/dev/sg2: scsi4 channel=0 id=0 lun=0 [em]
If i stop the transfer mode the phone was in, i get the following or computer freezes:

Code:
/dev/sg0: scsi0 channel=0 id=0 lun=0 [em]
    ATA HDS728080PLAT20 PF2O [rmb=0 cmdq=0 pqual=0 pdev=0x0]
/dev/sg1: scsi1 channel=0 id=0 lun=0 [em]
    TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S202J SB01 [rmb=1 cmdq=0 pqual=0 pdev=0x5]
/dev/sg2: scsi4 channel=0 id=0 lun=0 [em]
    Nokia Nokia 5310 Xpres 0000 [rmb=1 cmdq=0 pqual=0 pdev=0x0]
Unfortunately i can't mount /dev/sg2 manually, i get the same error (device doesn't exist).

Thanks for any help

Hmm a few days have passed since my last post and still noone have answered... perhaps it's a strange bug of Fedora 10. I don't know but i have no other choice than down-grading to Fedora 9 which i wouldn't like to do, or changing the distro; after all untill now Fedora 10 brought me nothing but trouble

Thumbs up [Solved] Fail to connect nokia 5310 phone via usb to Fedora 10 after upgrading

Hello,
I've found the solution. it was a bug in the kernel 2.6.27 with this cellphone that is fixed in the 2.6.28 kernel. The solution is wait until the kernel it's updated or do what i did:
Note it worked only in Fedora 10 fully updated for me, in Fedora 9 i went into a "dependencies hell"

1. Download this two packages from Koji to your desktop:kernel-2.6.28-3.fc11.i686.rpm and kernel-firmware-2.6.28-3.fc11.noarch.rpm
2. Install them by runnig this in a terminal:
su -c 'rpm -i kernel-firmware-2.6.28-3.fc11.noarch.rpm'
su -c 'rpm -i kernel-2.6.28-3.fc11.i686.rpm'
3. reboot your system and then, in the grub menu, choose 2.6.28-3.fc11.i686 option.

Now when you plug the phone in you should be able to operate with it normally. (it automounts to /media/disk)

Question

Please, help me with connecting the phone Nokia to the Fedora 11, kernel 2.6.30.10-105.2.23.fc11.i686. I don't know the phone model, maybe 6400. The documentation is lost within years. It is not so old and not so young and vestal then. I give an image.

When I connected a simple Canon camera, it was mounted automatically and the Nokia was not recognized by the PC. Maybe I should execute some commands in the terminal?

Thank you
