Can't get widescreen on FC10 that is a guest system on VMWare

Hello!
I don't know if that's appropriate category, but I've got a problem with widescreen in Fedora Core 10 which is run under VMWare Workstation. I installed open-vm-tools and also xorg-x11-drv-vmware, but I still can't set the card to 1440x900 resolution. However I can set it that way in KDE settings. I also tried installing vmware tools from VMWare, but the driver can't compile, because it says: "NO X Install found" or something like that. What can I do? Thanks in advance.

Hello:
yum install system-config-display

then

system-config-display

and under the Hardware Tab select a Generic LCD 1440x900 panel

reboot and see how it goes.

I tried it. And nothing happens, still 1440x900 is not avaliable. I also tried putting "1440x900" in xorg.conf, but still I can't set this resolution.

Hello:
There should be no need to do any direct editing of your /etc/sorg.conf file

There is no xorg.conf by default in F10, if you ran system-config-display it would have created one.
So you can try installing the vmware tools package and see if that helps.

I run VMWare-Server and haven't had any issue with selecting different screen sizes up to and including 1920x1200 with F10 32bit as a guest.

Still nothing. In system-config-display there's just no 1440x900 option. What is more, the resolution is set to 2048x1536, but the system starts with 1024x768.

Hello:
It's just not obvious

system-config-display
/Hardware
/Monitor Type ------> Select Configure

Then select the tiny arrow in front of [to the left of] Generic LCD Display

Then select the LCD Panel 1440x900

Then reboot and see how it goes.

I set it to LCD Panel 1440x900 long time ago and still there is no 1440x900 resolution. The closest is 1440x1050. I have no idea, what's wrong. In FC8 everything worked fine.
