OpenGL DRI Help

Hi,

I have Fedora 10 installed. A few of my application softwares requires GLX (OpenGL X Extension). But when I start the application the display logs off. However, I am able to start the application with -mesa option. But this option seems to work slow. I tried to figure out in the xorg.conf, but I could not find the same in /etc/X11 anymore in Fedora 10.

I have the following xrog.conf file which was generated when I used Fedora 9. The glxinfo is also as below.

Please advise me if I need to do some tweaking to get the opengl extensions work.

Thanks in advance.

According to what you have posted, there is no problem. So: what is/are this application(s) that cause X11 to crash? Sounds like a problem with the app itself, or a bug in X11 (both are possible and likely).

BTW, F10 does not require any xorg.conf file, and using an old one from prior Fedora releases can be dangerous, since the syntax/format has changed....

V

P.S. Also, please post hardware specs.

Thanks for your post. I have some more information.

I checked, the application "Tecplot" runs well when it is opened locally and the problem of X11 crashing occurs only when I try to run the same application on a remote machine (ssh). The application requires GLX (OpenGL X Extension) to be available on local machine.

I get the following errors displayed in the terminal when I run the application on remote machine:

libGL error: open DRM failed (Operation not permitted)
libGL error: reverting to (slow) indirect rendering

and subsequently X11 crashes.

Local machine hardware spec: Intel 2.4 GHz P4 865GBF MB 1GB RAM

Please advise.

Hello:
Try starting your ssh session with

ssh -X

And see if that makes a difference?

The errors posted above are usually for ssh session with ssh -X.
In case if I start ssh session with only ssh the error is related to display (Err: Cannot open display).
