music production on fedora

i'm currently running linux mint 5 (based on ubuntu 8.04) on my hp pavillion laptop (dual core 1.6GHz, 2 gig ram).

i want to switch over to run fedora. before i do that, i wanted to find out what peoples experience has been using fedora for music production. i would mainly be using LMMS and audacity, but also hydrogen. i'd also be using a tascam us-428 usb mixing desk with this setup. does anyone have any experience of this with fedora?

i would also be using Aiptek 8000U graphics tablet with gimp, anyone use one of these or similar?

also does anyone think which deskto i used would make a difference? i'm used to gnome, but interested in giving kde a proper run. would that matter much?

wasn't quite sure where to post this question, hope its appropriate in the general section.

thanks
