Adding line-in to pulseaudio

Hello,

I have what should be a simple Pulse Audio question but I can't seem to find the answer. I installed Fedora 10 and got Pulse Audio to work with xmms as well as Firefox. I've got a TV card that I usually view using tvtime. The audio is supplied via "Line-In" to my soundcard. Obviously it'd be nice to be able to control the volume using the controls in tvtime, however using the left/right arrows to lower/raise the volume doesn't do anything to adjust the volume. I can use kmix to adjust the line-in volume, likewise I can adjust the master volume using the Pulse Audio volume control, but is there a way to get the tv card's "Line In" audio incorporated into Pulse Audio? I see that there's configuration options for microphones but not Line In. Did I miss something simple?

Thanks!
Dan

I had the same problem, but was able to find a solution,. (Thanks rusty on ubuntu)

By default the loopback module is not enabled. You can use pulse audio control to load it.

pactl load-module module-loopback

which will load loopback for the session. To have it load every time (and for all users) add

load-module module-loopback

to the file "/etc/pulse/default.pa". There is probably a way to set it for just one user by modifying something in the "~/.pulse" directory, but I don't know the specifics.

Good Luck,
Erik

Re: Adding line-in to pulseaudio

Many thanks Erik - been looking for this for a long time.

To start per user edit ~.bash_profile

Code:
# .bash_profile

# Get the aliases and functions
if [ -f ~/.bashrc ]; then
        . ~/.bashrc
fi

# User specific environment and startup programs

PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin

export PATH

pactl load-module module-loopback
