Mono on Fedora 10 - Installation/Setup/Configuration

I am trying to install Mono on Fedora 10. its installed but something or the other always goes wrong.

is there any guide for Mono installation on Fedora 10.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the error messages i am getting in error_log file of Apache

[Fri Dec 12 12:30:12 2008] [error] Failed to connect to mod-mono-server after several attempts to spawn the process.
-----------------------------------------

->
XSP runs fine on port 8080
aspx files open up in xsp but not in apache.
----------------------------------

-> I get 503 server error when i try to open aspx file.
-----------------------------------------

-> SE Linux is disabled.
--------------------------------------------------------

-> Here is what i have added at the end on Apache httpd.conf file.
MonoAutoApplication enabled
MonoServerPath /usr/bin/mod-mono-server2
Alias test “/usr/lib/xsp/test”
MonoApplications test “/test:/usr/lib/xsp/test”
<Location /test>
MonoSetServerAlias test
SetHandler mono
</Location>

Include /etc/httpd/conf.d/mod_mono.conf

<Location /mono>
SetHandler mono-ctrl
Order deny,allow
Deny from all
Allow from 127.0.0.1
</Location>
------------------------------------------------
->
I opened the Mono control panel and restarted mono but still aspx files don't open up.

------------------------------------------------

->
I also restarted the Apache and restarted the computer but that didn't help either.

I have the same problem, tried all the same things. One additional bit of info: I'm running all x86_64.

Who can help?

thanks,

Re: Mono on Fedora 10 - Installation/Setup/Configuration

Hello,

I'm a total newbies on linux system and fedora. A friend of mine install a virtual machine with fedora 12 and I've virtualmin for administratives works.

Because of permanent problems of memory use and processes of mono who became double, triple, etc.. he deleted mono.

When I execute yum search mono here is the result. Normally the yum installation would install everything in the right place but it didn't. I don't find mod_mono and after restarting httpd nothing append?

Re: Mono on Fedora 10 - Installation/Setup/Configuration

Anything on the Mono Project's page under Easy Configuration of Mod_Mono helpful? I'm not sure where the fail is.

Some of the headings on the page include:
  • Easy Configuration of Mod_Mono
  • Apache performance tweaks
  • Configuring Mod_Mono

I have never successfully set up a Mono web server yet so I don't know if this will help, or if you have used it already.

Re: Mono on Fedora 10 - Installation/Setup/Configuration

Just noticed a link off of that page to a posting Enable ASP.NET support in Fedora Linux. It looks like a watered-down version and I think it is for Fedora 9 but if you are like me, anything might hold the missing key.

I didn't see anything about SELinux, but that is a common cause for pain and suffering. In that case it may be turned on, but blocked? (whoops... now I see you disabled it already).

Two things catch my eye
  • MonoServerPath /usr/bin/mod-mono-server2
    is the "2" proper here?
  • Mono control panel
    I have never heard or seen an Mono control panel, can you tell me a little about it?

Does your experience sound like this bug? Bug 607718 - mono server does not allow connections.

Found this in stackOverflow : Mono (mod_mono) & Apache (httpd) on Fedora 10: failing to start correctly. I know it is an older version of Fedora but may have something.

Re: Mono on Fedora 10 - Installation/Setup/Configuration

I succeed to launch mod_mono server but I have permanent html 404 errors. I re-installed some mono stuff with rpm packages and restart httpd. I don't know for the rest. It would run but it doesn't...

Thanks for all, if I succeed to make running my application I'll post the way ..

Please do, this may be me in the near future pulling my hair out (and I don't want to do that, I'm already pre-genetically-orientated to ending up without much hair in the first place!)

Smile Re: Mono on Fedora 10 - Installation/Setup/Configuration

I have mono running on a fedora 12 distribution which I access via virtualmin.
The problem I had was that apache was launching multiple mod-mono-server.exe
/usr/bin/mono /usr/lib64/mono/2.0/mod-mono-server2.exe --filename /var/run/mod_m ...
After uninstalling mono I tried to re-install with:
yum -y install mono-nunit22 mono-basic mono-core mono-data mono-extras mono-jscript mono-ndoc mono-nunit mono-web
After this I made :
yum install httpd mod_mono mono-web
But it didn't worked so I made an installattion with the rpm packages I found there :
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat...86_64.rpm.html
Once it was installed good I restarted apache (httpd) but I had error 404 and mod-mono-server2.exe was launched. So I killed the mod-mono process and tried to access to the web site. And it worked. For my situation it seems that you don't have to have mod-mono-server2.exe already running. The process launch itself when you type the site url.
I will see if multiple mod-mono processes will start on the future.
For now it seems good.

Hope it will helps.

Re: Mono on Fedora 10 - Installation/Setup/Configuration

The problem is always there...
The mod-mono-server2.exe processus launchs itself multiple times and give an error 404

This is the process :
/usr/bin/mono /usr/lib64/mono/2.0/mod-mono-server2.exe --filename /var/run/mod_m ....

Is it possible to make a script or other stuff to force apache to kill the process after the session of the user.

Thanks in advance
