Angry FC2 and NVIDIA Drivers...

Okay....with FC2T3 i had problems with installing the nvidia drivers for my Geforce4 5900 Ultra videocard and praying that when FC2 final came out they would be fixed, i recently upgraded and then installed the drivers and as before when i try running glxgears i get the error:

Quote:
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual
I really would like to get these drivers to work...its strange...i run the install script, it says it cant find a precompiled kernel image so it 'makes' its own...then it installs and says that the installation was complete...so i figure that the driver was installed however when i change my xorg.conf file to the appropiate settings as i would my XFconfig file...my computer will boot up and then just go blank....after awhile of blankness just reboots....

If anyone has had success with Fedora Core 2 and the nvidia drivers preferably with an Nvidia Geforce4 5900 Ultra (256 mb) I would greatly appreciate a 'how to' install and configure my system to run with these drivers....

peace...

Shouldnt I be editing the xorg.conf file?

and i have tried your how-to with no success still the same error message....

im not saying that your how to is wrong...im sure it works im just wondering if it is with nvidia geforce 5900 ultras that is not supported...

Just want to see if someone out there has done this successfully or i will just have to wait until nvidia throws out another driver...

Perhaps you missed one of the steps...

Please attach /etc/X11/xorg.conf

the xorg.conf is basically from what i can tell the same format as the XFconfig...i followed exactly the steps givin in the readme expect i change my xorg.conf file instead of the XFconfig...i even attempted to add in some options which i saw on other posts with no success...i know that my xorg.conf file was setup correctly...

this has been bothering me for a week now...and im still so confused....i think it seriously is a support issue with 5900 ultras....

please attach... your post directly suggests that the drivers are not being properly loaded...

If you want help it is best to give as much relevant information as possible...
