NEC Versa Lite FX - Mouse config issues in X

Ok I had to install mine a bit differently due to the original CDrom (External) Missing. I transplanted the HD in another laptop for the install and now have it back in the NEC Versa Lite FX...Ugly but it boots with no issues.

X is the problem.

I can get most things to conf with no problems however the lappy has a touch pad which will not configure with the X - configure command. No core pointers can currently be found and hence X will not start.

In the Xorg conf file which it writes when you do the X -configure it has the following like

input devices "mouse0" "core pointer"

Does anyone know a way I can configure this to get X working. The X -configure seems to have configured the graphics and all other components except the bloody mouse.

Any help is most apprciated.
