Has anybody got amarok 1.4 to build or work in F10. If yes please forward the link to f10 rpm. When I configure the source tree it excludes the konqueror sidebar which removes a major part of functionality for me.

Just joining this as there seems to be some info on the old alpha, beta section that is now closed.
I have got as far as needing libmtp.so.7(64bit) having downloaded the rpms from koji. If any one can give me the command line to downgrade this I would be much obliged. Completely forgotten how I did this before. I think I have to point to the location of the file needed, but I have to find that first.
Real pain with amarok as I have three more F9's running amarok 1.4 ok. But the F10 amarok is no real use to me as it will not play mp3's. So I am ashamed to say that I am having to think twice about upgrading them till I can sort this out. MP3's are playing ok with other players. But it is what you get used to I suppose. I really do not understand why F10 amarok 2 has been included,it is not really anywhere near ready.

im kinda waiting for amarok 2.0.. but im afraid that it wont make an official appearance untill F11? amarok is my only reason to use any KDE stuffs
I am just trying to force the rpm on 1.4 fc9 to install on f10, that will get around my issues if I can get it to work. :-)

Can any of the 1.4x fans explain whats wrong with Amarok 2 RC1?
Haven't tried it yet myself, but is there some sort of problem with it or do you just love 1.4x too much????![]()
Well it has no functionality for me, it will not play mp3 and the gui is horrible all the config options are not there. I think that is the problem as I cannot set it up to use the correct engine to play the mp3's. Amarok just looks like an old windows 95/98 app apart from the splash screen which is nice.

I've been using Amarok Version 2 for a while. I just installed RC1 and I love it so far. It is a little ugly, but then I find all QT4 / KDE 4.x apps ugly (Gnome user). I was using Song Bird until I tried Amarok 2. It works well, and has been stable.

I think kde 4 libs are now called just kdelibs, it was a while ago since I first installed Fedora 10.
Try,
You'll also need the Xine and the extras from rpmfusion,Code:# yum install kdelibs kdelibs-devel taglib-devel qt qt-devel phonon phonon-devel mysql-embedded mysql-embedded-devel
You should have all your need to compile then. If you need more help please just post.Code:yum install xine-lib-extras xine-lib-extras-freeworld xine-lib xine-lib-devel

Thanks YeOK. the mileage was much better than it was previously after following your instructions. but got stuck in make:-
what i did:Code:/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/4.3.2/../../../libX11.so when searching for -lX11 /usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/libX11.so when searching for -lX11 /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lX11 collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[2]: *** [lib/libamarokplasma.so.2.0.0] Error 1 make[1]: *** [src/context/CMakeFiles/amarokplasma.dir/all] Error 2 make: *** [all] Error 2
cmake and make logs are attached belowCode:1. svn co svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/extragear/multimedia/amarok amarok 2. cd amarok 3. mkdir build 4. cd build 5. cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix` -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=debugfull .. 6. make
I completely agree with Anniedog. I use Amarok 1.4 and really love it. I don't want it replaced by a software in serious development.
I would be grateful if someone could help us in getting Amarok 1.4
One question : would installing the f9 rpm for Amarok work? It would I guess bring along with it lots of kde 3.5 libs, but would that break my current kde 4?

No tried it and installer baulks at a dependency issue. you need to downgrade the package libmtp.so.8 to libmtp7. That is where I got stuck as I could not remember how to do it. From my post above need some kind person to give me the command line. Perhaps if leigh is about and he has the time ne could help here.
I tried copying the version 7 from one of my F9's over but couldn't get a link to work. Yes I did read the info ln and was in terminal as root.
EDIT
I just had a thought about building from source problem. I think Yeork states he did this some time ago, perhaps it is the source itself . The source code will change as development proceeds. So we would need the exact version that Yeork has built. In any case it might well be that other packages have been changed since then and Yeork may just be lucky. It would be interesting if Yeork could rebuild on the current source, but that may be a gamble not worth taking.
