how can I undo modules?

When updating to kernel 2.6.27.5-41.fc9.x86_64, both my nVidia video and nVidia ethernet drivers failed. My attempt to run them in older kernels also failed, because apparently newer drivers were installed and 2.6.* forces the versions to match. I'm guessing these were build with akmod, but nevertheless--how can I remove them? I'd like to "un-update" the modules, reboot in an older kernel, and remove the latest.

You see, I can't yum-uninstall without access to the repositories, which means I need an internet connection.

Aha! some progress:
yum -C remove kernel-2.6.27.5-41.fc9.x86_64
allowed me to remove the kernel offlice (the -C specifies working only from the cache).
I was able to reboot; now dealing with a white-screen nvidia.

ok that worked. Aside from now having a "beta driver" from the akmod, things are pretty much where they were 24 hours ago. Sheesh!
