    F10 - Thinkpad - X key map problem?

I installed the F10 preview which i downloaded yesterday and my up arrow key doesn't work in X. When i press it it takes a screenshot. The Print key does nothing. Ctrl-Up takes a screenshot of the current window, as Ctrl-Print should. Ctrl-Print does nothing.

In the gnome keyboard shortcuts dialog, "Take a screenshot" is set to "Print". If i try and set it to the Up arrow, it gives a warning telling me the up arrow cannot be used - so, at some level, X has the key mapping right.

This problem is the same whether focus is on gnome-terminal, Firefox, the keyboard shortcuts dialog, or whatever. All other keys appear to work ok.

I'm dual booting with a F9 system and, using the same home directory (therefore the same user config files), i don't have the same problem with that.

The Up arrow key works fine in a text console.

It's been so long since i had to debug this sort of thing that i've forgotten where to start. Can anyone give me any suggestions?

I had this problem with Gentoo, it is because X now tries to get it's settings from HAL. To fix, add this to your xorg.conf (if you have one).

    Section "ServerFlags"
    Option "AutoAddDevices" "off"
    EndSection
