When I first came here I couldn't understand why they kept mentioning Christmas after every TV programme, with an honorific "Wo" before it! It took me ages to figure out what they were saying
I also seem to have a hearing problem. While waiting for a train, as it's approaching the platform the announcer will say "haku-sen no uchi-gawa wo sagatte kudasai" (Please stand behind the white line)
I'm sure I heard it as "Hakusai to chiwawa wo tabette kudasai" (Please eat Chinese cabbage and a Chiwawa)

o.m.g. this has got to be the single most community-manager-heavy thread around ;-)
<<friends>> is okay but imho not nearly as funny as the bbc british comedy "The IT crowd" .... that one is just hilarious!

ZOMG, now with extra 'Z' !!
Friends was OK, but the Brits made a better one called Coupling, IMHO, of course - written by the same bloke who's taking over Dr Who - Steven Moffet.
Personally, I think friends are overrated. Give me a hamster and a roll of masking tape any day ....

And boy were his arms tired. Also, you have to figure that if Asia gets mentioned, Wayne and I will almost always show up. Like flies on--oh, never mind.
(re the CM heavy part). @stefan, I just caught the omg part---OMG, that was funny.
(To non native speakers, I believe he's making a bit of fun of my explanation about Oh my God. Yes, it is often used in text speak, but it tends to make the person sound as if they're about 10 years old.
Wayne, I'm trying to figure out what you heard as Wo kurisumasu. What were they saying?
As for train announcements--as anyone who has ever ridden a NYC subway knows, they save the important announcements for the time the train is pulling in or out, so you can't hear them. The stupid ones, "If you see something suspicious, tell an MTA employee or police officer, see something say something, etc. etc." they make sure that you hear that one. As if there were ever an MTA employee or policeman around.

Ahhhh---oh kuri shimasu or whatever it is. OMG, I can't believe I didn't realize that. I already knew okurimasu I think, and it was a bit strange because many people would say, will you send me home when they wanted to say walk me home or take me home.
