I wish I know how to remove official driver and install the new rpm
And I do not want to destroy my current working laptop..

Do these drivers (185.*) have support for vdpau?
I installed them (185.18.36 (x86) but it's not woking.

$ mplayer -vo vdpau -vc ffh264vdpau file.mkv
shows no video:
Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.

Maybe if I use the 190.* ?
Or it's not with the drivers but something else (like mplayer) ?
I have a 9400GT.

Question Nvidia Update problem

Yum just showed me updates available for nvidia:

Code:
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia.x86_64 185.18.36-3.fc11 rpmfusion-nonfree-updates
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i586 185.18.36-3.fc11 rpmfusion-nonfree-updates
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.x86_64 185.18.36-3.fc11 rpmfusion-nonfree-updates
but when I run the update I get:

I tried:

Code:
# yum erase xorg-x11-drv-catalyst
Loaded plugins: dellsysidplugin2, presto, refresh-packagekit
Setting up Remove Process
No Match for argument: xorg-x11-drv-catalyst
Package(s) xorg-x11-drv-catalyst available, but not installed.
No Packages marked for removal
that is why I am mystified about the conflict - how can I conflict with a package that isn't installed?

I seem to recall this happening recently - try excluding all *catalyst* from updates:
sudo yum update -x *catalyst*

EGADS! Add *96xx* to the excludes - for some reason, it's now trying to drag in one of the legacy NVidia driver packages:
sudo yum update -x *catalyst*,*96xx*

If this trend continues, it will next try to drag in another legacy driver, or error out. Or even possibly succeed. We'll see.

So now it all seems good - I will restart X and pray!

Extremely odd that mesa-libGL, libdrm and those other standard X.Org libraries were missing from your OS - YUM apparently was trying to find packages that supplied those libs. It ended up finding the standard packages when you excluded all the proprietary stuff. How very odd.

Not that I know of. Certainly not video wise. Suggestion above worked so I am happy!
