What monitor do you have and do you know the correct refresh rates for horiz & vert.

It's a "Hitachi SuperScan Pro 800." It's ancient so I'm not sure about the refresh rates. If I can manage to find them what can I do with them?

You might want to make a copy and try without the keyboard bits so you use the new hal/evdev system. It works good for me, autodetects keyboards and mice just fine and you don't need those x11 drivers installed anymore if it works.

Thanks for the quick reply, but it still does the exact same thing. Do I need to update/reinstall/recompile anything? I did restart, of course. I give this another day or two then I'm off to buy a better supported video card and won't mess with Nvidia any more.
Thanks Much for the help.

Looks like the xorg.conf is being re-written with a restart. I'll look back through the posts, this may have already been adressed, still any advice on this is appreciated.

I was running in Rawhide without any problems using the rpmfusion nvidia drivers, however after updating to F10 Gold X will no longer start. The akmods and nvidia services both start without errors. I've also tried the nvidia-173xx packages for kicks and the same error was received in the Xorg log. Here's my info:

It works! Thanks a lot, Leigh. Your last suggestion did the trick. I looked up the rates for my monitor, plugged them in, restarted X, and *snap* *crack* full resolution! I'll post my working xorg.conf as an example for others who have similar problems with unrecognised monitors. The fix is highlighted.

Code:
# Xorg configuration created by livna-config-display

Section "Files"
	ModulePath "/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/nvidia"
	ModulePath "/usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers"
	ModulePath "/usr/lib/xorg/modules"
EndSection

Section "ServerFlags"
	Option "AIGLX" "on"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
	Identifier "Monitor0"
	VendorName "Unknown"
	ModelName "CM800U"
	HorizSync 31.0 - 89.0
        VertRefresh 50.0 - 160.0
EndSection

Section "Device"
	Identifier "Videocard0"
	Driver "nvidia"
	Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
	Identifier "Screen0"
	Device "Videocard0"
	Monitor "Monitor0"
	DefaultDepth 24
	Option "TwinView" "0"
	Option "metamodes" "nvidia-auto-select +0+0"
	SubSection "Display"
		Depth 24
	EndSubSection
EndSection

Section "Extensions"
	Option "Composite" "Enable"
EndSection
One last note: During this process I reinstalled Fedora 10 from normal install media as opposed to Live-CD. After doing so, I no longer encountered any dependency issues with system-config-display or rhpxl while installing the driver from the repo. They both showed right up in the fedora repository. So this was either a momentary problem with the fedora repository or some conflict with a Live-CD installation that is beyond my realm of understanding on such things.

Thanks again!

Thank you very much Leigh!
My last issue, xorg.conf being re-written with each restart, was caused by an incorrect input device Keboard0 setting in my xorg.conf. I remarked it out for now and all is very good.
Thanks again for your help.
