How to recognize new monitor?

I swapped monitors from an old 17" CRT to a 19" LCD but my max resolution is still set at 1080x768 (while the LCD has a native resolution of 1280x1024). How can I get Fedora 9 (with KDE if it matters) to recognize/support the new LCD monitor?

Thanks!

Look under System/Administration/Display. That might be a source of info. (Sorry, I run GNOME, but the basic idea is that same.) I have an NVidia display system with an NVidia driver. There is a program under Applications/System Tools called NVidia X-Settings that is even more helpful. These communicate directly with the monitor. Chuck

system-config-display did the trick. I just set it to a default 1280x1024 monitor and it worked fine from there.
