    Can't get to GUI

When I boot, my screen starts to flicker a number of times and then eventually hangs at the last thing it executed before it started to load the GUI (or so I assume).

I assume this because /var/log/messages shows
    Code:

Now I setup this computer up a long time ago so I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure I had set this computer up to load kdm.

btw this is an upgrade from f8 to f10.

This may just be the problem

    Code:
    (II) Module "ramdac" already built-in
(WW) NVIDIA(0): The NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 GPU installed in this system is
(WW) NVIDIA(0): supported through the NVIDIA 173.14.xx Legacy drivers.
(WW) NVIDIA(0): Please visit http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html for
(WW) NVIDIA(0): more information. The 177.82 NVIDIA driver will ignore
(WW) NVIDIA(0): this GPU. Continuing probe...
    (EE) No devices detected.
I've disabled the rpmfusion repos. which one will hold the nvidia driver?

    It's rpmfusion-nonfree , why don't you install the F9 akmod-nvidia (173.14.15) packages as they should work fine with F10

    Alright so I enabled rpmfusion.

    Then I did yum install akmod-nvidia-173xx xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-173xx xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-173xx-libs.

    That did the trick.

EDIT: leigh i was getting the problems having tried to use akmod. I find it to be the best. no need to worry about finding a kmdl (atrpms) or kmod (livna/rpmfusion) after a kernel update is heaven.
