Gday folks
Been trolling these forums (and many other websites) for days now trying to get my HP Laserjet 1000 to work on Fedora 9 (Completely updated with latest kernel)
Basically what i think it comes down too is the Firmware is not being uploaded to the printer
at all. I can add the printer (is seen by the OS) in the printer manager (GUI) and can print too it from open office but, the printer doesn't actually print, the jobs just pile up in the queue.
I tried to manually setup the foo2jzs driver with its hotplug setup (which is for, as far as i can see, actually uploading the firmware to the printer) but unfortunately i get this silly error when trying to
make it
Code:
#
# Dependencies...
#
***
*** Error: /usr/include/stdio.h is not installed!
***
*** Install Software Development (gcc) package
*** for Ubuntu: sudo apt-get install build-essential
***
make: *** [all-test] Error 1
tried to get ahold of that missing file by installing the "Development Tools" and "Legacy Software Development" group packages (aswell as numerous stand alone yum packages), no dice there (and i wasn't even sure if the printer would work this way anyhow)
Really trying to make F9 the primary OS on my other PC but without being able to print to this printer, i may have to drop F9 and go to ubuntu (as i did have it working on ubuntu a version or two ago) or back to winblows
Is there a definitive way to get this printer working on F9 (mostly everything i've seen is debian/ubuntu stuff virtually no fedora stuff

)
if anyone could help at all that'd be awesome
Cheers
