I have installed FC5 and after it boots up right before you get to the login screen, it goes to a blank black screen. I have updated the boot loader and rebuilt the boot loader. I don't know what else to do. Anyone else ever had this problem?
install an up to date version and perhaps you will not have any problems. fc5 is ancient in terms of fedora. f8 will go out of support as of next month. you should try f9 or f10. also as far as troubleshooting, it has nothing to do with the bootloader. sounds like more of an X problem at the blank screnn press ctrl-alt-f2 see if you get a login screen.
