Does it show up on the grub menu? Did you by any chance have a power outage or anything to do with it not downloading or compiling right? Even so i don't think it would cause you to install 3 times. I havn't installed that kernel yet so i don't know a lot about it as far as installing and bugs but you need to explain more about it like ... If it's listed in grub what's it do when you try to boot it? or It's not listed in grub but yum said it compiled and is installed. Get back with me.

no power outtages no, yes it is listed in the grub menu but gets to the 'decompressing redhat......blah' and hangs when booting the newest kernel.

i installed, updated, reboot, and thats where the problem started.

Well, you can still boot into the kernel before 27 right? It has to be a compilation problem of some sort if the older ones boot. You said whole system is broke. What happens when you boot into the older kernels?

.27 is bootable in the sense i can pick it from the menu. but it wont get passed the phase i said above

the other kernel is bootable. but i cant update it at all.

it only has default, 'first boot' settings.

Sit with your old .25 kernel for now. Therefore your "whole system broken" is misleading. Just the latest kernel is broken for you. Wait it out.
