is that shaman in the systray? do you like it? I like the idea of it but in practice come to realise that it feels kinda heavy and slow, much unlike pacman. But maybe they have improved upon it i don't know.

It is a good front end. It is heavy and slow compared to pacman though, bit what package manager front end is not compared to the command line? I use both actually. I have not decided if I like pacman running in the tray, I will open it for "shopping" purposes and just leave it run. I see it does automatic updates. It really does not bog my system while it is running and doesnt bother me but now that I am settled in I am not searching for apps as much.

I would say there is no doubt that running pacman from the CLI is much better and that is what I do in most cases. I just have a mental block about searches, I prefer a GUI list right in front of me. (and yes, I know I can just "pacman -Ss.")

edit: Surprised you did not pick up on vattery. That is a great app written in vala. It is relatively unknown and I am pleased with it. The only thing I dislike is when fully topped off it changes back to red. I managed to change the config file to show charging as green instead of blue but I dont know where to start to keep it green when topped off. Oh well...Minor little annoyance. It is a super app and I recommend it to anyone looking for a simple tray battery monitor.

i did not even know about vattery. I guess these days i am lazy and spoiled. I use KDE4.3(beta) and yes am guilty of plasma widgets as well, so on my desktop i have a very pretty battery KDE widget showing my power, heck powerdevil end the widget even support multiple batteries. Since 4.2+ KDE is also really snappy when hardware accelerated so I really have no urge returning to openbox again. Heck I hope the Knetwork widget will start supporting WPA2 soon so i can finally say goodbye to NetworkManager.

It's too red. The sort of theme reminds me of something from the early 2000's.
