Installing Fedora 9 on VMware ESX server 2.5.5

Howdy, folks! I've been given the task of installing Fedora in a virtual machine running under VMware's ESX Server 2.5.5. So far, every time I try to boot the net install CD, I get to the EDD check, and seems to go nowhere (ie, freeze) from there. This is better than before, when it would blow up and reboot the virtual machine. Does anybody have any idea of what might be going wrong? (Bonus points if you have any idea how I might fix it.)

I've ran out of clues, and the only thing I can think of is maybe trying my luck with an older version of Fedora.

Thanks in advance for any help.
