Question Missing dependencies

Hello again, I have at the moment 3 updates waiting in pup to be installed but when I try to install them I get the message "error resolving dependencies". The 3 updates are (1) pidgin package update, (2) cups package, (3) open office org. If whoever can help needs all the details from the "error" message, I will type them out, but at the moment I'm hoping there is a 'general' solution.
My os is fedora 8.
Many thanks
Fontainbleau.

Unhappy Updates

Can anyone tell me what the point is of having 'updates' continually coming up on the desk top when most of them you can't download because of missing dependencies. Is it possible to stop these useless reminders and manage with what we've got?.
Hopefully, some-one will have an answer.
Many thanks

Fontainbleau
