ISA card needs modprobe each reboot?
My Sound Blaster 16 ISA card works fine if I (in the root GUI) use modprobe snd_sb16 and then adjust the volumes in kmix. Problem is that if I reboot my pc, these new kernel settings are not saved. So, I again have to log into the root GUI and do a modprobe.
How can I have my pc execute the modprobe command at boot??

try this, as root without quotes...
"echo snd_sb16 >>/etc/modules" to load the module at boot time

mdynac, I'm new to FC2....sounds like you have an ISA SB16 card installed on FC2. Getting it to work isn't a problem for me....getting it to automatically be set up when my pc boots is. How did you get yours to automatically set up your sound card?

Actually I did nothing, it just came up running after I installed FC2......
I have also rebuit a 2.6.7 kernel from kernel.org and from past experience I selected the proper sound setup for my card....which was a learning process in itself.....
what I do is build in soundcard support, and then create everything else pertaining to my sound card as modules......and that works fine....
Let me say again that when I did my original FC2 install...my ISA sb-16 soundcard worked just fine...... if I use the soundcard detection in the KDE Control Center, it basically gives me a blank stare.....something about no info available for my card, but it still works..... my card is about 9 years old a full slot ISA board, but it just refuses to die so as long as it works i just keep running it on my lowly P-II 333 Mhz
system......
the command that i gave you in the above post would do the trick on a Debian Linux system, but I would think that there would be some equivelent thingy for FC2......
I do have the same trouble with my joystick port on the soundcard....I must modprobe the joystick stuff in......
good luck

Could I use the taskmanager in kde to run modprobe snd_sb16 every time I boot?

Actually, I did not say that the legacy ISA drivers are not supported - only that they probably don't get as much attention as they used to since they are legacy and many systems/motherboards simply don't ship with ISA slots any more. This is conjecture, but based on a lot of experience with systems, software, and (yech) maintenance.
