ATI Radeon mobility 9700 SLOW>>>

I am run 10 on my laptop. I could go on and on about how 90% of everything worked right out of the box and I am so happy about that.
BUT I am running GL Desktop and Compiz toys and it is SO slow. I had this running nice and fast before - so I am trying to find out what to do. There have been so many ways to get these ATI cards to fly in Fedora I have used before but none seem to be working for me now.
I downloaded the ATI drivers and when I try to install it I get:
Code:
Error: ./default_policy.sh does not support version
Any idea where I go to now?

Red face Fedora 10 and ATI 9700 issues

At present I've experienced GL issues with the installation of Fedora 10 beta.
It seems any time I run any GL required software the system stops responding.
Everything did work fine in version 9
I tried installing compiz fusion and the screen just went black when I activated compiz.
I'm hoping that a search through the forums will provide some answers. I actually thought the start up screen was going the crash the system but it made it through it.
