vlc 0.9.4 from rpmfusion wants directfb-1.0

rpmfusion replacing livna (and others)? I'm trying to install vlc from there and it fails wanting libdirect-1.0.so and libdirectfb-1.0.so, but the rawhide repo only has directfb-1.2...how do I resolve this?

is it expected that such will still be neccesary once F10 goes final?

I am asking this because once I screwed up my FC2 server (yes ... server $%#$^) so bad by downloading stuff from rpmfind since of course FC2 was not supported anymore.

I would prefer to stay away from rpm search engines and stick to the repos + rpm-fusion. But on the other hand one DOES need vlc (0.9.5).

Linux is Linux an you can always find a rpm via rpmfind whether its needed by the time Fedora10 goes final i dont know but i think it will for some things, rpmfusion is still new so its gonna have its teething problems in some areas

Okay, yum install vlc gets farther now (without doing anything else).

However, I keep getting a message about a missing dependecy libcucul.so.0 needed by package vlc.

That file already exists in /usr/lib (package libcaca-0.99-0.5-beta16.fc10.i386 is already installed).

Any ideas?

Thanks, Rick

I installed all other required dependencies and then just grabbed the vlc rpm and installed it with --nodeps...works fine so far.

Where/how did you grab the VLC packages?

I am new to fedora and not familiar with yum or how the repos work. I tried using the downloadonly plugin for yum but had no luck.
