System wide equaliser??

I am not sure if its just my setup where something has gone wrong or fedora doesnt come with one?
I am kind of hoping for a system wide equaliser or if not possible an equaliser plugin for totem and rhythmbox.
I have tried forum search and google but nothing is coming up at all of use. The thing is I like to listen to music a lot through my laptop and when I am connected to my headphones and not to the stereo I have no equaliser and the music sounds a bit tinny.
Does anyone know about preferably a system wide equaliser or even just plugins for rhythmbox and totem?
Thanks, Lee.

It seems to be for slack, and doesn't have a makefile or anything.
