segmentation fault when installing java

Dear forum,

when I install the rpm java package into Fedora like :
rpm -Uhv j2re-1_4_2_04-linux-i586.rpm

I get the error like :
Preparing... Segmentation fault

and it is stopped. This rpm package is downloaded from SUNJAVA,. Could you please show me how to solve this problem ? Thank you very much.

best

Tuan.

Probably your downloaded file is corrupt. Are you using the root account? I believe you need to be, for installing the Sun SDK...

Java's downloads come in self extracting executables. I'm assuming you ran it and decompressed the rpm?

If Sun released md5sums or other signatures of the files you could check them, but I don't think they do.
