Downgrade from 9.92 to Fedora 9/Update caused Desktop effects not to work.
Hello. Today there was a giant update. (1010 updates) Everything looks awesome!!! but... Now desktop effects wont work. I tried to enable them but everytime I do it logs me out and wont let me enable it. I've even tried opening desktop effects in root and it still happened. Should I just wait a day or two and see if they send an update that will fix this?
PS.
I am using a G4 PPC. I do not know if this should be in the PPC forum, but this seemed to be more fedora in genereal not a PPC issue (since from what I can tell it isnt something over the hardware or drivers)

Now I cant get Openoffice to work. And when I go to add/remove programs and click on one of the sections (like multimedia or office) it will not display all my options. It says No results found. But when I search for a program that will show up.

Ok. Apparently I activated Rawhide and it installed the beta. Is there anyway to down grade?
I guess I should create a new thread for this.

Perhaps your only option right now is to wait for F10 to be released, and then try an upgrade. Till then, forget about any updates from rawhide or elsewhere. It's a long shot, but it might work with no or few repairable glitches.
If you decide taking this course of action, don't forget to backup all data before attempting anything risky.

Ok. Nevermind it comes out next month. Link: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/10/Schedule (for other people). If I can get ahold of a OS X disk then ill wait till the update next month.

Few more weeks. At least wait until the next beta or RC appears and do a selective upgrade then.
OTOH, in rawhide you could try
Code:
yum groupupdate 'OFFICE/PRODUCTIVITY'
That should be safe enough.

@flyingpengwin:
I merged your two threads into one as they ask the same question (and get identical answers).
In future: one and only one thread per issue, please.

Ha, Vince, your merge lost one post of mine I just replied in the thread that got deleted so even though I saw the output due to the vBulletin feature, whern reloading the page, it's missing. Anyway, here it is again:
I stumbled on something very strange. Perhaps someone could duplicate the situation and check the results:
Code:
yum groupupdate 'OFFICE/PRODUCTIVITY'
================================================================================
Package Arch Version Repository Size
================================================================================
Installing:
openoffice.org-langpack-en x86_64 1:2.4.1-17.6.fc9 updates-newkey 88 k
Installing for dependencies:
mythes-en noarch 3.0-1.fc9 fedora 4.9 M
Transaction Summary
================================================================================
Install 2 Package(s)
Update 0 Package(s)
Remove 0 Package(s)
Total download size: 5.0 M
yum update however, returns nothing. Tried it a few times to make sure there is no error on my part. Anyone care to explain what's this ?

I only created a different one because the first one was about the Desktop and the other was about the upgrade. I didn't know if I should stay using the first one because it had a different title. Sorry.

Hello:
You need to disable the main livna repository as they do not support beta releases.
If you must use the livna repo, then do the following
su -
gedit /etc/yum.repos.d/livna.repo
and set
enabled=1
to
enabled=0
save and exit
then
gedit /etc/yum.repos.d/livna-devel.repo
and set
enabled=0
to
enabled=1
save, exit and run
yum clean all
Seve
