Replacing Motherboard and processor

Hi,
As I go through setting up a web server I am wondering what Fedora 9 thinks about Motherboard replacement. We I need to completely reinstall the software or is Fedora forgiving.

Cheers

Ron

There may be a couple things that might be an issue. I'm sure others have more wisdom, as I'm not absolutely sure about them.
1) if you currently use ide drive controllers and the new mb has only sata drive controllers.
2) your video.

my computers are so old I don't know much about sata, but I understand that others have had issues with these controllers. The video can always be resolved by booting into text mode and reconfiguring it.

My experience with replacing motherboard under any linux distro has always been positive. I've even gone from Intel to AMD, and the system came back up with ZERO changes needed by me. Quite easy! I hope you have the same experience (I think you will).

If you're SATA on both boards, and just basic VGA for the server, then it's likely the only thing you'll notice different is NIC mac addresses. If you MAC address is listed in your ifcfg-eth* scripts, then you'll need to modify that if you want your eth* devices to remain the same.
