Has anyone gotten KDE to work in a VM ?

When I installed F10 Beta in my VM I installed both KDE and gnome.
That was good, because gnome worked and KDE did not. It would get as far as showing the desktop, then get stuck.

I uninstalled everying KDE and reinstalled. No go.

So today I downloaded a KDE live iso and burned it. My plan was to get it booted up in a VM, then clidk on INSTALL and install it in the VM.

It runs fine when booting the host. But when I let it boot a VM it gets as far as showing the desktop, then gets stuck.

F8 KDE runs beautifully in a VM. F9 had a lot of trouble, and never did work right. F10 Beta fails completely. And with the Live CD that worked fine in the host doing the same as my previous install, it is obviously not due to a bad install, but to something about running in a VM.

I guess I should clarify that all my VMs are created with VMware Workstatition 6.

So has anyone else had success with running KDE in a VM? Did you have problems like this and get them resolved? If so, could you share your experience so I can have more success ?

My VMs are all created with VMware Workstation 6.

Solution Found

I left the VM running a very long time, and noticed that it wasn't hung, it was just running very slowly. Then I remembered a big difference between running in a VM and running on the host: memory. I usually allocate 256 MB to a Fedora VM, but had upped the previous one to 512 and it still locked up. This one was still at 256, AND a live CD needs a lot more memory becuase it simulates drives in RAM. So I upped it to 1024 MB, and an now doing the planned Install to virtual HD.

Thank you all for your consideration.

Just installed Fedora 10 beta straight to a harddrive and same here KDE acts stalled. Not sure how long you let it run but I finally quit early myself at about a couple of minutes. Wondering if others are having any issues in F10 beta and KDE.
