Upgrading from FC5 to 9

Hi,

I've been using FC5 for some years, quite happily... I've decided to upgrade
to something more recent (having trouble updating some stuff). My question is,
is it safe to upgrade directly from 5 to 9 ? or would it be more reasonable to install
some intermediate version ?

your better to downlload the Fedora 9 DvD an install that as a Clean install.. do not Upgrade.. it can leave some nasties behind IMO..but since fedora10 isnt to far away from being released your probably better to wait an install that

i couldn't say no, because maybe it's possible. But I would not recommend to do that.

nothing is gonna change if you install all the version from 5 to 9...

If you could wait a bit more (1 month and something), you could just install F10

BTW, whatever fedora version you are going to install, i suggest you to format your system partition and install it, starting from a new begin.

what kind of machine with fedora 5? server or desktop?

if that desktop, remove ALL folder except /home and install fedora 9 from dvd, if that a server ....
