Ubuntu, Fedora, Mandriva Performance Compared

Did not know in which category to post this so...

Very nice benchmark result comparison using Phoronix Test Suite 1.0 ubu-fed-mand

you gotta remember IMO UBuntu an Fedora have a different Focus on Desktop Linux..where as fedora is More Bloated than Ubuntu.. fedora is more or less a debain Distro that test's the new technology to improve Linux Desktop so its gonna be slower IMO

Heh Demz, looks like a typo to me. I think you meant to type RedHat, not Debian. Ubuntu is based on Debian, Fedora is the testbed for RH.

Yes, there's a different focus. Ubuntu's number one bug is that MS is more popular. They strive and do a pretty good job, of creating a distribution that works. More focus on creating a good user experience out of the box.

Fedora is more prone to throw things in before they've really been made to work properly as a great deal of the focus is on testing.

i had a few beers to many lastnight . an yes i am an was at home but i had been drinking at the Pub an when i got home from it i got back on it

Well D, i did it, i had who knows how many beers and i spent all Sunday morning in bed on the laptop.

the weather here in Australia is making me lazy. its hot. an i got work to finish outside ..iv'e already finished 3 beers

Here, we have +30 degrees celcius for 7-8 months a year and it's driving me insane. It is good that now fall and eventually winter is kicking in.

i hate the cold weather.. i much prefer the hot weather but where in Australia i live its that Hot u could cook an egg & bacon on the cement pathway

I know the feeling... From June to September the temperature is from 38 to 41 degrees plus the +80% humidity that breaks whatever is left of you...

But cold weather is ok, i mean 5-10 degrees is very healthy, i get to wear my geeky cordroy trousers and it helps pc's run cooler in the basement

I was never a fan of Jeans trousers... don't know why though. Maybe i will grab a pair this year
