OS X wasn't around in the 80s my friend.

I have the best of both worlds. On OS X everything works out of the box and I do not have to worry much about spyware or viruses due to the system being based on BSD.

Up your Mac's memory to a gig or more and grab a copy of Leopard and install NeoOffice, Transmission for torrents (Macs get the latest version long before they bother to package it for Fedora) HandBrake for ripping your DVDs and Burn for making CDs/DVDs. The latest version of HandBrake is only available for Leopard There's a whole bunch of freeware out there for Macs (Perian adds extra multimedia codec support to your Mac) and it's much easier to use HandBrake than struggling to get the ripping apps working well in Linux. If only I had the cash.... Steve Jobs may be the devil but at least his stuff works!

The industry is sometimes incestuous, and everybody knows everybody else, but it's not that bad.

Ahhh, that Commodore I had pictures of black tall masted ships

You'd be out of the loop too if you had to use this keyboard for over a week!

You have my sympathy, Wayne. My brother uses one of those things ... and claims to enjoy it.

We've asked for a psych consult. <....>

It wasn't so much the OS that was bugging me but that silly little keyboard with some of the keys in the wrong place! The UK English keyboard that I'm used to has some of the SHIFT keys in different locations, so I was typing the wrong character sometimes! On top of that, the spacebar was shorter than usual because of the two extra keys on either side of it! It was very annoying That and there's no space between the keys so it's useless for people with short fat fingers

This is what I picked up on Yahoo auctions here, a brand new UK English IBM PS2 keyboard. It's much more solid (and heavier) than the piece of junk I got last year in London. Still, I was there on a budget and didn't want to waste beer money on hardware Price for the IBM was 1400 yen plus shipping and tax (it was a store auction) I always try to avoid buying USB keyboards for some reason

Now, if only I had a decent PC to connect it to
