Audio play problem in Fedora8

I find that in my Fedora8, there can not be two program play sound (audio) at the same time.
For instance, I am listening to music and char on Pidgin MSN at the same time. Then there is no sound for my Pidgin, because my music player 'mplayer' has occupied the audio device and Pidgin can not play sound anymore.

Is there a solution?

Thanks.

do you have pulse? if yes, check if everything in
System > Preferences > Harware > Sound
is set to pulseaudio, or whatever you like to use
