Unhappy rio500 in Fedora Core 2, doesn't work? :-(

Hy everybody!
I upgrade my box from Fedora Core 1 to Core 2... and the only thing that is really disappointing me, is that I don't know how to make my Rio500 usb work in Fedora Core 2 :-(((
Does anybody have some idea?

thanks,
cheers!

Hy frontzeck,
I have read in some foruns that this drive doens't work in 2.6.x kernels...
So, I don't even try to use it.
But... I think I'll give a try in this tonight!

thanks!

hm...the requirements section on the site i posted before says
Quote:
Requirements
A Rio 500 (duh!)
A motherboard with USB that is supported by the Linux kernel
A kernel with USB support (i suggest using 2.3.34 or better)
glib installed on your machine. You can get it from: www.gtk.org
2.3.34 or better... so there shouldn't be a problem. But the page doesn't seem to be up-to-date since the "latest news" are from 2002 so maybe it won't work with 2.6.x

and Mandrake 10 has 2.6 kernel isn't!?
humMm...
I'll keep trying to make it work... any news I'll post here.

Thanks!

Anyway, perhaps there is another way, take a look at http://lists.debian.org/debian-qa-pa.../msg00150.html (yes i know it's a debian list )

Setting this timeout and recompiling fixes the problem of the rio500 utils not working under 2.6.7.
I wonder if it's really that easy - can't wait to hear your results

Hy! :-)
I make work! (thanks God!)
I updated my FC2 Kernel (to 2.6.7), and install this rpm
ftp://linux.inrialpes.fr/linux/sourc...0.7-1.i386.rpm

works fine, until i try to add a folder... it doesn't add nothing...
do you know if I can and how I can change the code of a srpm from Fedora Core 1 to make that change that is done in the Debian list topic?

thanks for the help!

cheers

Why don't you get the source (it's 0.8.1 btw) and change it there? Good luck

Well man... I don't know...
I compile and install the 0.8.1 version...(with the alterations of the debian list) but when I try to run
#rio_stat
I've got the message:
Quote:
rio_stat
Could not open /dev/usb/rio500
Verify that the rio module is loaded and your Rio is
connected and powered up.
Any suggestions?

thanks
