Java jre1.6.0_97 Export Command Line Command
I just installed Fedora 9 and went to test my default installed Java installation, and java.com said I am using an older version of Java. Java version 6.0 Update 0, and I have downloaded the newest version, jre1.6.0_07 and I tried to create a new plugins folder under the firefox directory, and java.com is still saying I have that older version, I found out why it keeps saying that, all of the available plugins are in the exports plugins directory under firefox, can I just use ln -s /usr/java/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so?? If so thanks, I am pretty new to Linux and I am still learning the Terminal Command Line Commands, is there a special Export option or not??? Thanks for anybodies time that is viewing this!

Black text on a white field, please, unless you really need to highlight something.
I fixed it for you, this time.

The applets from any and every website do not start, not even from a local web based game that uses Java
Let me try what you suggest.

In your FF browser: Click on Edit > Preferences > Content
Are the boxes labeled "Enable JavaScript" and "Enable Java" checked?
If not, put a check in each one.
Also in your FF browser: Click on Tools > Add-ons > Plugins
What version of Java is shown there?

the java rpm installes with a link for FireFox .The sun one dose not
you may need to link
--- the rpm ----------
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.7.0-icedtea-1.7.0.0/jre/lib/i386/gcjwebplugin.so
or sun
/usr/lib/java
or
/usr/java
and look for /i386/gcjwebplugin.so
and link it to your ff plugins folder
-------------------
type in into the FF address bar to see what is installed

The file gcjwebplugin.so only exist on /usr/lib/gcj-4.3.0
What does it means? And how do I kink it to firefox plugins folder?

At this point I'm not sure what you have installed or not installed as far as Java is concerned, but it's obvious you have not properly installed the java broswer plugin. If you have the Sun Java JRE package installed, determine it's location:
Code:
su -
password
updatedb
locate /plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
Then create the symbolic link (symlink) using the full path returned by that command.
Code:
ln -s /path_to/jre1.6.0_xx/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
Restart FF and check your 'about lugins' again. Be sure to use the actual path to the libjavaplugin_oji.so file on your system and not just copy/paste the example I gave above.

Code:
[root@dns1 ~]# updatedb
[root@dns1 ~]# locate /plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
/home/LatinHacker/jre1.6.0_07/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
/usr/java/jre1.6.0_07/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
[root@dns1 ~]# ln -s /usr/java/jre1.6.0_07/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
ln: creating symbolic link `/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so': File exists
this is what happened.
