system very slow

HI there ,

I am using kernel 244 from latest update and Im definitely seeing a slowdown here in running apps, and starting them up, and want to verify its not just my setup..is anyone else experiencing a slow desktop ?

I realize this is alpha ( and Ive never ran alpha before so,,,) but I wanted to verify in case I had some odd setting or something.

X2 4200+ , 8800GTX with 3d drivers running, and 2 gigs ram atm.

My cpu usage seem steady at combined of 30%.

thx
lee

Rawhide kernels are built with extra debugging which makes it slower !

taken from kernel spec file .
Code:
# Set debugbuildsenabled to 1 for production (build separate debug kernels)
# and 0 for rawhide (all kernels are debug kernels).
# See also 'make debug' and 'make release'.
%define debugbuildsenabled 0
