How to change the default sound device in gnome, fedora 9?

I use my sound blaster card for Skype as it does a good job however I would prefer to use the on-board audio device (Intel,0) as the default audio setting.

Skype has the option for configuring all available sound devices which makes life easy for choosing the best drivers.

eg
Sound in: hw: Audigy2,1
Sound out; plughw: Audigy2,4
Ringing: plughw: Audigy2,4

How do i make the the intel chip the default audio device . In windows xp it's very easy to change.

I can't see Intel under 'Sound Events' ,'Music and Movies, and 'Audio Conferencing'

Only in the 'default mixer tracks' is 'HDA Intel (Alsa mixer)' included.

You select HDA Intel and Master
All other settings on this tab, except sound capture - set it to Alsa, you set to autodetect. After that try clicking Test on next to sound events and tell me if you hear a beep, do not forget to plug your speakers to intel sound card output

I set it up as you said. The Sound test in the device section is still with the sound card. I tried rebooting but with no luck.

System > Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Devices

When i test each sound in 'Sound Events' ,'Music and Movies, and 'Audio Conferencing' they work with my sound blaster card (each on auto detect) even though the mixer setting is set to 'HDA Intel (Alsa mixer)'.

That's weird to say the least. Have you tried changing them to something else?
