problems with latest wine (2004-07)

just upgraded my 2004-05 version to the latest 2004-07 version on fc2 with the athlon fc2 package from sourceforge (i always get those precompiled rpm's from there and usualy they work fine)

now,
if i start wine it imediately seg faults...

next i renamed the whole .wine dir and ran wine so it would create a clean .wine and then continued to copy my old fake_windows dir into the freshly created .wine dir

now wine works but i noticed that the fonts got screwed somehow.
so i fired up winetools 2 to install the fonts again but get an error:
"error: cant change into non existent directory..." or something like that

in the shell it says:
Warning: the specified Windows directory L"c:\\windows" is not accessible.
Warning: the specified System directory L"c:\\windows\\system" is not accessible.

hmmmzzz.....
proceded with a google search and someone suggested changing the sym links in dos devices to real paths (without the ${HOME} var)

hey, what do you know?
it seg faults again.... (but winetools2 will install fonts now without complaining?!)

any ideas whats going on and how to solve this?

I recently installed the 16-7-2004 fc2 athlon rpm and am using it without issue. It was a fresh install on a new fc2 machine and I used the winesetuptk to set it up. I only use 1 command line app under it but haven't noticed any problems.

Sorry I can't be of more help

Ned
