Umm, some of it seems to have been cut off! Weird as it was just a copy and paste:

well, that's a bright future for linux according to the article. yet, it's a pity if we are going to lose bash and command line in general as some stuff can be done faster and easier via CL rather than GUI (though maybe it's due to problems of that GUI itself, or just the matter of habit)

Hmmm. Not that hard an article to write, though. Like a financial analyst ... " we expect the current earnings growth to continue in the next quarter with some modest increases in risk" ... hedging their bets with say-nothing statements. Then again, I'm a bit hypercritical today.

My message to devs: I don't mind if GUI configuration becomes easier and foolproof, just as long as CLI control is unfettered and always there when you want it.

Just another "here's what I want Linux to be" article.
With some truths..some not. (like he doesn't know anywhere close to how Linux boots up now)
And apparently he hasn't updated his Desktop since RH 9 with most of the "config display" cli ramblings.....he just has to be using a RPM based distro.too...it shows...or maybe he's tired of Deb Tater dpkg..

It's possible for lots of hardware used NOW to have a total working install with several distros now..all GUI and all GUI tweaked (for normal user stuff...outside of an occasional foray into a root GUI update.)

So the author is just jumping on the bandwagon and extolling some of the present virtues of Linux and the Dreamland he envisions it "should" be to conqueror the world.
But he's following the Linux camp from a distance it seems...with ramblings and a somewhat behind the times approach, although he does attend "some" of the *CON(s).
Seems to post a lot of these Linux type generalization type articles.
