setup printer

I've installed Fedora for the first time on a used IBM ThinkPad. Everything's working great except for printing. I've got a HP Laserjet 1300 connected directly to the ethernet network that I use macs that are also on the network.

When I use the printer configuration tool and try to add the printer it asks for an address, which I don't have. Do I need to somehow assign this printer an address?

I have just one pretty good book on Fedora, but for network printers, it just says 'see your network administrator'. I am the administrator now.

Apparently you have this printer with some JetDirect printer server add on. You can find the IP for HP print servers by printing a configuration page.

See this HP support page.

Thanks. I found a white paper on the subject about an hour ago with the same advice. I did just that and used the ip already assigned to the printer and it works fine.

best,
