Yum crash "double free or corruption"

Today is the first time I ever see Yum crash. I was trying to install gocr on Fedora 9 and boom... a crash.

Can anyone help me out with this? How can I get around this or what is causing this issue?

That is a hard crash within db4 code, which is a really bad occurrance

The best plan of action here would be to open a bug in bugzilla against the yum product.
Paste what you pasted above, and try to give relevant details.

After that, try cleaning yum's metadata with
Code:
yum clean all
and after that, regenerating rpm's databases with
Code:
rpm --rebuilddb
After doing that, try installing gocr again.

Thanks,
I don't know if that fixed the problem because I ran into another one. I'm getting the error below when doing anything related to the repositories.

Wow. Try:
yum clean all

again before trying the update/install.

If that fails, please post or attach copies of your repo files:
/etc/yum.repos.d/fedora.repo
/etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-updates.repo

Try another rebuild of the RPM database as per the official instructions: http://wiki.rpm.org/Docs/RpmRecovery

For some reason the server is responding with "500 OOPS:"

Checkout the sniff packets below, the first one is the request and the second is the response for an FTP connection. Even though under "Protocol Info" the response is 220 but if you scroll down you will see 500 OOPS: at the end of the data. After that the connection is terminated.

Is this supposed to happen?

Code:

I don't know enough about networking to comment further - except to say it now looks like a networking problem, not a YUM or RPM problem.

Yes.. so it seems. I followed the instructions in the link you provided... still no luck.

Is there anyone willing to do?
yum clean all
rpm -v --rebuilddb

I'm afraid the repository servers are messed up....sense it's the weekend.

Thanks for your help.

Hi, i think your problem is in combination with one of the yum plugins. I had the same problem and now i tried to disable all yum plugins and now .. yum works fine again. The only thing i have to determine now is, which of the plugins is the culprit .
Update: Maeh that sucks .. fastestmirror is the reason for this double free error.

The yum servers are back online. Give it a whirl.
Give us the result if errors are found, start to end.
