I'm not 100%, but the blinking caps lock indicates a kernel crash (I've seen it on CentOS), but the end result is always the same, the PC is frozen and needs rebooting.
This happened to me on an overclocked machine, it wasn't overheating, but at my best guess, was caused by memory timing.
On that note, check your system temperatures (use lm_sensors and sensors-detect, or your BIOS), and run memtest86 to check for errors.
Also check in /var/log/messages for any clues as to whats happening.

Reboots, Lockups, Caps & Scroll Locks Flash, Now Computer Will Not Boot At All
So as to not open another thread about this type of issue:
About 5 days ago my problems started out the same: the computer would lock-up, reboot, or freeze with caps lock and scroll lock lights flashing; starting off rarely to frequently to now the computer will not boot at all. Unfortunately I found to run the memory/CPU tests too late. Yesterday I was still able to boot but after about 5 minutes it rebooted on it's own. I was so frustrated that I just shut it down completely and turned the PSU switch off and left it overnight thinking maybe it'll somehow reset. Well, today when I turned it back on the computer would boot to the BIOS start screen but it came up with some weird ASCII characters for the CD drive. After a couple of more restarts with the same thing I unplugged the CD drive and now I don't even get the BIOS start screen. As a matter of fact the monitor doesn't even detect any type of signal to come out of standby.
Any clues of what the root problem is/might be? I hate to have to start buying parts to find the culprit (which because of the nonstart issue seems to be the CPU or the PSU).

I've seen blinking capslock and scroll lock when x freezes up on me. In my case, I beleieve it had to do with flaky intel drivers.
Kuptis: You obviously have hardware problems, does the computer beep or flash lights when you try to power it up, if so google for beep code from you motherboard manufacturer.

Nope. It doesn't beep. But now that you mention that I have a feeling it's the power supply.
