How to start Sugar

I was just in the process of installing KDE so I can get TaskJuggler compiled when I saw Sugar as one of the desktop environments available for F9...and I checked it off.

Now, with a dummy account, I select sugar enter a name and pick a color and it just falls back to the initial graphical login window...as if I hit Ctrl-Alt-Backspace.

I'd really like to try it out and maybe configure my kids' accounts with it.

cheers!

Hi you are not alone, i too wanted to try it out, but with the same results, i not sure why, but i think its a bug, i never investigated any further, and am not that bothered, but it would be nice to hear from anyone, if they have managed to get it to run in f9.

I had the same experience trying to get Sugar started.

In the initial Sugar screen, I believe that it asked for name (not username), so I typed in my full name. I wonder if I was supposed to type in a valid Linux account username. If so, is this the cause of the problem, and how do I fix it?

I cannot get back to that screen. If I retry, it just cycles back to the initial graphical login window.

I haven't had any luck getting it to start in F9 either but it works in F10 and also there was a recent "sugar spin" that I installed to a usb device that works also.
