Live USB Installation error: Invalid SHA1

After downloading the Fedora LiveUSB Creator, I was greeted with the following progress and error message:

Downloading Fedora-9-i686-Live.iso...
Download complete!
Verifying filesystem...
Verifying SHA1 of LiveCD image...
Error: The SHA1 of your Live CD is invalid. You can run this program with the --noverify argument to bypass this verification check.

I am a novice intending to use this to familiarize myself with the Linux OS. I need help regarding what to do at this point. I am unsure what error I committed. I do not know how to run the "no verify argument" if that is in fact what I should do.

My host machine is a Windows XP SP2 and my target drive is a 9GB USB thumb drive formatted as usual in FAT32. I allocated 500MB for Persistent Storage.

Please advise.

Your iso file is corrupted.

You can retry or download the file yourself from the Fedora Project and put it in the proper location. You might have to poke around using the Windows Explorer to figure out where to put the iso. Also the GUI lets you browse to the iso if you download it separately.

In theory I have a bootable Fedora 9 on my thumb key. Cool. As mentioned I'm presently in Windows XP SP2. To get into Linux do I need to do anything other than:
1. reboot,
2. hit F12 or whatever to enter Boot Menu when BIOS initiates its routine,
3. find the removable thumb drive: highlight and hit enter.

What I want to avoid is changing the boot order. This is my wife's laptop and she will divorce me if this thing boots into Linux next time she turns it on. So . . . is it possible to temporarily change the boot source but leave the BIOS routine unchanged. I want all of my trials and tribulations on Linux to be invisible with all traces of activity, programs, programming and playing around within the Linux OS isolated to the thumb drive. When I shut down and yank the thumb key I want the HDD and BIOS to be identical to their present state.

Does this make sense and is it possible?

If your computer supports booting from a usb device it should be possible to accomplish all that you mention.

There are so many versions of BIOS.

It sounds like you want to shutdown from the Fedora USB boot, then when the system is restarted it autoboots into Windows by default.

Typically a BIOS has a list of bootable types, and you can enable them, and reorder them.

If windows HD is first, and the F12 menu times out, then windows should boot.

If fedora USB is second, and the F12 menu times out, then windows should still boot.

If you hit F12 and navigate to the USB boot, you should get Fedora.

If this isn't how the BIOS is currently configured you will have to change the order.

If the hard drive fails, it's off to divorce court!
