Fedora 9 network issue

Alright so I started off with one little computer acting as a server doing its thing and the other day found an 5 year old computer in some boxes. I didn't have the heart to chuck so i decided to also turn this computer into a linux server.

My new little computer seems to not want to connect to the outside world. The machine can see other computers on the network and they can see it. In my searching about for a solution i found some people were having issues with network manager so i turned that off, I also found turning off IPv6 support helped some so i did that as well. Still can not connect to the outside world and it still continues to work perfectly internally. I've been fiddling around with linux for a few years now but have only done basic simple things so i might need some hand holding through certain tasks. On a side note, my first server which also has FC9 works perfectly so i dont think theres any compatibility issues with my router.

Thanks in advance

Hello Straytalk

I assume you are using static IP.

Try adding GATEWAY={router_ip} to ifcfg-eth0

restart eth0. check routing table for default route. (0.0.0.0)

# netstat -nr

P/S: NM is actually quite good IMO.

EDIT: to manually add default route,

# route add default gw {router_ip}
