Blank display after setting desktop enhancements in Fedora 9 - KDE

Ok I am posting because I am unsure how to find this answer. I made some changes to the desktop like fading windows in and out and things like that. After doing this I can no longer login and see my desktop. X is working and I am logged in as root right now to post this. I get the login prompt and when I login with my user account I get blankness.

Who can tell me what file to delete or modify to reset my user display preferences to normal?

Another noobish question...shouldn't it ask questions and have a timer when changes are made like some other OS'es?

I think you could probably move the .kde folder in /home/yourusername to something temporary and try logging in again.

What things are you trying to do that you're expecting a response for?

Renaming the .kde folder took care of the problem. Thanks for the assistance.

No. Or rather: whether it should or not is debatable, but the vast majority of Linux users seem to prefer not to be second-guessed constantly by the software.

Unlike some "other OS'es", Linux will cheerfully carry out any ("legal") command that you give it, to the best of it's ability, with minimal cautions/warnings, even if the result is self-destruction.

Enjoy,
V
